As the founder of the Dreamer Fund, Monica Valencia shares her story on why she created the non-profit and why it is important to help undocumented law students.
For Monica, it's personal. Both of her parents were undocumented and they migrated to the U.S. in search of a better life. Growing up in an undocumented household was no always easy, but because of her parents' hard work and hunger for a better life, Monica persevered and continued forth.
Although Monica considers her family a "mixed status" family, she hopes to bring awareness to the social and financial issues affecting undocumented students at the graduate level.
