Monica Valencia became a Mellon Mays Fellow in the Spring of 2012 at the University of Southern California (USC), after a rigorous competative process. Dr. Jody Agius Vallejo of the Sociology Department, mentored and guided her through the research process that lasted about a year and a half.
Research: Mexican immigrant communities working in the agricultural environments of Southern California, in particular the segregation that exists between Oaxacans and other non-indigenous Mexicans.
