Monica Valencia First Veteran to Win Mellon Mays Fellowship | University of Southern California
After Monica Valencia was chosen to be a Mellon Mays Fellow in 2012 at the University of Southern California (USC), it quickly became news to the student body, administration and the student veteran community that she was the first veteran at USC to receive this honor.
Her story was highlighted in the Daily Trojan, where she states, "This is an incredible opportunity to be paired up with faculty, conduct your own research and prepare for grad school,” Valencia said.
